Dramatic police chase in Prague ended with a PIT maneuver
© AKTU.cz, Tomáš Soukup, Lukáš Dvořák On Tuesday, February 6, a wild police chase swept through Prague, culminating in the use of the so-called PIT maneuver. The incident began when the driver of a private vehicle refused to stop during a routine traffic check.
Instead, he fled and sped away through the streets of Prague at high speed. Police cars immediately gave chase after the getaway driver, who violated traffic rules and endangered other road users during his reckless driving.
The pursuit wound through several Prague neighborhoods. The driver ran a red light, weaved between other cars, and tried to shake off his pursuers. However, the police stayed on his tail without faltering.
After several minutes of wild driving, the police decided to end the dangerous situation with a PIT maneuver.
This tactical maneuver involves the pursuing vehicle striking the rear of the fleeing car, causing it to spin and come to a halt.
An experienced officer executed the PIT maneuver flawlessly. After the collision, the fleeing car began to skid, turned 180 degrees, and stopped. The driver was immediately surrounded by officers and taken into custody.
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any serious injuries. The driver now faces charges for multiple offenses, including endangering road safety and obstructing the execution of an official decision.
This incident once again highlighted the effectiveness of the PIT maneuver in ending dangerous chases.
